PULLMAN, Wash. – A free public jazz concert featuring the new Washington State University faculty quartet Nighthawk will be presented at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the WSU Museum of Art.
Nighthawk features hard driving, fiery saxophones with an emphasis on high energy improvisation.
The members of Nighthawk are well known to Palouse jazz fans: saxophonists Greg Yasinitsky and Dave Hagelganz, bassist Frederick “Dave” Snider, and percussionist David Jarvis. Individually, these musicians have performed around the world with top figures in jazz, including Randy Brecker, Tom Harrell, David Friesen, Mal Waldron, Gabe Baltazar, Bill Watrous, Jim Pugh and Marvin Stamm.
The program will include original works composed especially for the group by Yasinitsky, Hagelganz and Snider.
The concert is made possible by the WSU Visual, Performing & Literary Arts Committee (VPLAC), the WSU School of Music and the Jazz Society at WSU.
