Undergraduate researchers compete at symposium today

PULLMAN – Nearly 40 undergraduates from across the university will compete at the 2011 Undergraduate Research Symposium Monday, April 11. A poster display will be in Smith CUE atrium all day with “People’s Choice” voting 10 a.m.-4p.m. The winner will get $500.

Oral presentations before a panel of judges will be 9:20 a.m.-3 p.m. in Smith CUE 518 featuring the work of 16 students. Four will receive awards – two $500 Crimson and two $250 Gray awards.

The symposium highlights the “research, scholarship and creative activity” of undergraduates as they “design, create and discover” with the guidance of faculty mentors, said Dave Bahr, director of Undergraduate Research, part of the University College, which is hosting the event.

Awards will be presented at the University College awards ceremony on April 19.
