Professors earn library award for information literacy work

Howard Davis Denny Davis
The 2011 WSU Library Excellence Award has been given to professor Denny Davis and clinical assistant professor Howard Davis, both in the Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering. A reception in their honor will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the Holland/Terrell Library atrium.

Davis and Davis identified an important educational need in their senior entrepreneurial engineering projects class: many of their students lacked information literacy skills. Concerned about their students’ ability to succeed, not only in the classroom but in their future careers, the two devoted valuable time to participate in a pilot project with WSU librarians.

Their work with the Project to Improve Information Literacy Skills Development in WSU Engineering Courses demonstrated their appreciation for the WSU Libraries and their commitment to improving the research skills of their students.
