PULLMAN – A retrospective of work by professor emeritus and local artist Ross Coates will be exhibited by the Museum of Art/WSU Aug. 26-Sept. 25.
An opening reception for the “Fine Arts Faculty Focus Exhibition” will be at 6 p.m. and a walk-through with the artist at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, in the museum gallery. As always, exhibits are free to the public.
The museum has a longstanding tradition of presenting work from Department of Fine Arts faculty. Since 2004, it has alternated a large group show with a bi-annual exhibit showcasing work by an individual faculty member recently retired.

Coates taught in fine arts 1976-1987, was chair of the department and was interim museum director 2001-02. His art reflects the notion of life as a journey; finding bits and pieces, he creates collages, constructions, sculptures and paintings that mirror this fascination.
The Museum of Art/WSU is located on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium in the Fine Arts Center on the Pullman campus.
