Police address shooter survival, substance abuse

A series of face-to-face forums with WSU police begins 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in the CUB lounge with “College Hill Beat Cops: Badge to the Bone.”

Those attending will meet the officers that hit the beat on College Hill, listen to their stories and find out how beat patrol works. The open Q&A forum may be the only chance for participants to ask the questions they’ve always wondered about concerning WSU police.

Upcoming forums will include:

  • “Shooter on Campus: Response and Survival,” 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, CUB lounge. Officers will walk through a shooter-on-campus scenario. Learn more about shooters, how to report concerns, and signs to look for – as well as how to keep safe.
  • “Busted? Myth Busting Police Enforcement,” 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, CUB lounge. This open Q&A forum will explore the world of minor-in-possession and open container offenses and arrests. What are the procedures, what are the police looking for, and what’s the safest way to have a good time?

The series is presented by the WSU Police Advisory Board and sponsored by Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse, the Coalition for Women Students, Compton Union Services, Women’s Transit and the YWCA of WSU.
