Jazz festival features saxophonist David Hagelganz

PULLMAN – The WSU Jazz Festival is Wednesday, Oct. 29, in Kimbrough on the Pullman campus.

A highlight of the festival will be a gala concert from 12 to 1 p.m. featuring guest saxophonist David Hagelganz performing with the award- winning WSU Jazz Big Band directed by Greg Yasinitsky. Additionally, the faculty group Jazz Northwest will perform featuring Kathleen Hollingsworth, vocals and piano; Yasinitsky, saxophone; Frederick “David” Snider, bass; and David Jarvis, drums. The concert will be presented in Bryan Hall Theatre and will be free of charge.

Saxophonist Hagelganz featured

Saxophonist David Hagelganz will be the guest in a free concert featuring the award-winning Washington State University Jazz Big Band and VOJAZZ vocal jazz ensemble at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Kimbrough Concert Hall.

Hagelganz has performed, toured and recorded with some of the finest musicians in jazz including Ben Wolfe, David Friesen, Mal Waldron and Marvin “Smitty” Smith. He is featured on numerous CDs distributed internationally on the Ark label, and has garnered praise in top jazz publications including Down Beat, Jazz Times and Jazziz magazines.

Gala jazz concert slated for June 19

Washington State University will host a Gala Summer Jazz Concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, in Kimbrough Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.The concert will feature vocalist Jennifer Scovell, a faculty member at the WSU School of Music and Theatre Arts, on an array of famous jazz standards like “Day by Day,” “You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To,” “All or Nothing at All,” as well as Brazilian ballads like “Estate” and “Just to Say Goodbye” with cellist Eugene Zenzen.
