IT names new director

VANCOUVER – WSU Vancouver has named Wim Geurden to the position of director of information technology, as of April 15.

Geurden comes to WSU Vancouver from JPMorgan Chase, Columbus, Ohio, where he was chief of IT architecture for retail financial services. He is a resident of Ridgefield, Wash., where he has lived since 1999. He has also worked as a senior executive in Accenture’s Financial Services Practice, and as a senior technology strategist for banking at Microsoft Corporation. Prior to Microsoft, Geurden was a partner with Accenture’s Strategic Information Technology Effectiveness group.

Sylvia opens in Wadleigh Theatre

PULLMAN – WSU’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Sylvia,” A.R. Gurney’s romantic comedy about marriage and a dog, April 9-12 at 8 p.m. and April 12-13 at 2 p.m. in Daggy Hall’s Wadleigh Theatre. 

“No bones about it,” said director Stan Brown, “‘Sylvia’ is a ‘doggone’ good time.”

Empty-nesters Greg (Alan Peery) and Kate (Dana Bensel) have relocated to Manhattan after 20 years in the suburbs; and their lives are moving in different directions. Greg’s career as a financial trader is winding down just as Kate is blossoming as a public school English teacher.

Boehmke honored at farewell reception

The WSU community is invited to attend a farewell reception in honor of Karl Boehmke, executive director of Planning and B udget, who is retiring after 32 years of service. The reception will be on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

New Campus and Regional Development Director named

Vancouver– Washington State University Vancouver has appointed Jennifer Crooks as Director of Campus and Regional Development. As the director, Crooks’ primary job responsibilities will involve fundraising and related activities both for the WSU Vancouver campus and for the regional major gifts program of the WSU Foundation. Crooks served as assistant director for Campus and Regional Development for three years and as development coordinator before that. A 1996 graduate of the Edward R. WSU grad chosen as director of Coretta Scott King Center

PULLMAN — WSU graduate, Dana Patterson, has been named the first director of the Coretta Scott King Center. The center is located at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, a small private school where Coretta Scott King was a member of the Class of 1951.  Coretta Scott King, wife of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, worked to eliminate racism and poverty.  Patterson said heading an institution named in her [King’s] honor is a perfect career step. Engineering appoints development director

Mark Hermanson, a WSU alumnus with close to 15 years of fundraising and higher education experience, has been appointed executive director of development and external relations for the College of Engineering and Architecture at WSU.Hermanson has a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant administration and a master’s of education in educational leadership and counseling psychology from WSU.Since 2000, he has worked in development at the University of Idaho, most recently as senior director for development for the College of Natural Resources. The search committee has named four finalists for the position of new director of WSU Libraries. Candidates will visit the WSU-Pullman campus in April to interview. Washington State University Spokane has named WSU alumnus James Dalton to the position of director of finance and budget.As WSU Spokane’s chief financial officer, Dalton will be responsible for overseeing strategic and operating budgets on the campus, as well as developing and implementing funding strategies to support growth initiatives and community partnership opportunities.Dalton has more than 20 years of experience in finance. Vickie Parker-Clark to lead WSU Extension district

Vickie Parker-Clark, an accomplished Extension professor with more than 22 years of experience, is the new director for Washington State University Extension’s Northeast District. WSU Extension Dean Linda Kirk Fox announced the appointment today. Parker-Clark, who has served as District 1 Extension director at the University of Idaho in Coeur d’Alene for the past four years, will assume her new responsibilities Oct. 1. Baker moves to UI; Wack adds new role

Mary Wack, dean of the university’s Honors College, has been named the interim director for the Office of Undergraduate Education. Wack will continue to serve as dean. The role of director of undergraduate education was previously held on an interim basis by Doug Baker, vice provost for academic affairs, as part of the initial implementation of the university’s strategic plan.
