PULLMAN, Wash. – The WSU School of Music will present a variety of concerts in early October open to students, faculty, staff and the community. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend.

Tickets for all the Faculty Artist Series performances go on sale one hour before the performances in the lobby and cost $10 general admission, $5 senior citizens and non-WSU students, and free for WSU students with ID. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the School of Music Scholarship Fund.
Oct. 3 – WSU Faculty Artist Series features the Palouse Trio, 8 p.m. Tuesday, in Bryan Hall, on the Pullman campus. Palouse Trio includes Meredith Arksey, violin; Ruth Boden, cello; Jeffrey Savage, piano. The program includes Joseph Haydn’s Trio No. 39 in G Major, nicknamed the “Gypsy,” paired with Enrique Arbόs; “Three pieces in the Spanish Style.” The concert will end with the cherished D Minor Trio of Felix Mendelssohn.
Oct. 4 – Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will perform in concert, 8-10 p.m., Bryan Hall Theatre, on the Pullman campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Oct. 6 – WSU Faculty Artist Series features the Brian Ward Trio performing jazz standards and works from its “Palouse Skies” recording, 8-10 p.m. in Kimbrough Concert Hall, on the Pullman campus.
The trio includes jazz pianist Brian Ward, drummer Dave Jarvis and bassist Josh Skinner.
Ward is a keyboardist, composer and WSU faculty member. He has performed with the Oregon Symphony, Bobby Torres, Curtis Salgado, Obo Addy and many others. “City of Roses,” one of the arrangements Ward helped create for Esperanza Spalding, won a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement for Vocal Performance in 2013.
Oct. 12 – WSU Faculty Artist Series will host “Hidden Gems: Music for Tuba and Piano,” a concert featuring Chris Dickey, 8 p.m., in Bryan Hall Theatre.
Dickey, a WSU tuba professor, will perform a recital of music for tuba and piano. The program will feature obscure or lesser-known pieces written for the bass melodic instrument in the 19th and 20th centuries. Joining him are pianists Karen Savage and Michael Seregow, piano professors in the WSU School of Music.
Oct. 13 – WSU Faculty Artist Series features guitarist Brad Ard performing “The Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Thelonius Monk,” 8 p.m. in Kimbrough Concert Hall. Ard will be accompanied by Dave Snider, bass; Mindy Ard, percussion; and Dan Smith, drums.
