PULLMAN, Wash. – WSU crop and soil science experts share the latest tools in the fight against farm weeds at the 2017 Weed Science Field Tour, 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, at the R.J. Cook Agronomy Farm near Pullman.
“Our Weed Science Tour is a unique way for growers, crop consultants, company representatives and university researchers to look at research plots together and discuss some of the latest technologies for weed management in wheat and pulse crops,” said Drew Lyon, endowed chair in small grains through WSU Extension and Research.
Lyon and Ian Burke, associate professor of weed science, will lead the discussions.
Registration is free and will begin at 1 p.m. at the Plant Pathology building adjacent to the Cook Farm. Plot tours will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Light refreshments will be served throughout the day, and a catered social hour follows the tour.
Topics will include:
- Broadleaf Weed Control in Pulse Crops
- Mayweed Chamomile Control in Winter Wheat
- Italian Ryegrass Control in Winter Wheat
- Weed Control In Spring Wheat
- Herbicide Resistance Update
Idaho and Washington pesticide recertification credits have been obtained.
