PULLMAN, Wash. – The Board of Regents of Washington State University will hold a regularly scheduled meeting January 26 and 27 at the WSU Tri Cities Consolidated Information Center (CIC) in Richland, Washington.
The meeting will begin at noon Jan. 26 in CIC Room 223 with a board lunch, followed at 1:15 p.m. by concurrent meetings of the Regents’ Research and Academic Affairs Committee (CIC Rooms 212-214), Student Affairs and Student Life Committee (CIC Room 210), and Institutional Infrastructure Committee (CIC Room 125T). At 2:30 p.m., Regents will convene a meeting of the Finance and Compliance Committee (CIC Room 212-214), followed at 3:30 p.m. in the same location by a meeting of the Strategic and Operational Excellence Committee. A Special Meeting of the Trustees/Shareholders of the Students Book Corporation will follow at 4:30 p.m. in the same location. The meeting day will conclude with a Board of Regents dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Anthony’s at Columbia Point, 550 Columbia Point Drive, Richland, Wash.
The regents will re-convene in CIC Room 223 at 7:15 a.m. on Friday, January 27 for breakfast, then move to CIC Room 21-214 to initially hear reports, including reports from the WSU Foundation, the WSU Faculty Senate, the Associated Students of WSU Tri-Cities, the WSU Graduate and Professional Student Association, the WSU Administrative Professional Advisory Council, and the WSU Alumni Association.
The regents are expected to take action on a variety of items during the meeting, including::
- A proposal by the WSU College of Education to discontinue the Master of Education (English Language Learners) degree. Students currently enrolled in the Master of Education (English Language Learners) program will be given the option to complete their program under the previous name or switch to the new degree titled “Master of Education (Language, Literacy and Technology Education)”.
- A proposal by the WSU Housing and Dining Board to increase Housing and Dining Rates for the 2017 fall semester. Under the proposal, residence hall rates would increase by no more than 2.6% ($276) of the total weighted average for room and board housing and campus apartment rates would increase by no more than 2.5% of the total weighted average for room and board housing.
- A proposal by the WSU Division of the State Attorney General’s office to adopt a policy on Delegation of Authority, amending or clarifying certain existing authorities delegated to the president or his designee.
- A proposal to approve a services agreement in support of WSU’s Initiative with INTO University Partnerships.
