Large Crest Tri-Cities SPOTRICHLAND, Wash. – Student numbers are up again at Washington State University Tri-Cities. For the third consecutive spring semester, the campus enrolled more students than the previous spring semester.

This spring, WSU Tri-Cities is up more than 5 percent in overall enrollment. Freshmen retention is also up, with more of the record 183 new freshmen from last fall returning than in recent years. Fall to spring retention rates were up 3 percent for freshman students.

“Our enhanced recruiting efforts have enabled us to experience these increases,” said Vice Chancellor Chris Meiers. “There are many people who contribute to our growth, including our student services staff and faculty, who work diligently to educate and inspire our students.”

WSU Tri-Cities recently created a new Office of Student Life as a direct response to growing student enrollment. The office is a resource for students to find information about campus and community activities, organizations, student government, service projects and housing options.

“As the Tri-Cities and the region continue to grow, WSU Tri-Cities enrollment is growing by continuing to offer tremendous value with a polytechnic approach of ‘learn while doing’ in a student’s field of study and desired career,” said Chancellor Keith Moo-Young.

“Our students work closely with faculty and staff where they find opportunities for internships, co-ops, research and real-life application of their degrees,” he said. “I am confident our students enter the professional marketplace ‘career-ready’ with the ability to adapt to a global economy.”
