RICHLAND, Wash. — Students and community members are invited to volunteer in landscaping the south-side trail of Badger Mountain in collaboration with the Richland Rotary and Friends of Badger on Oct. 18 at 8:30 a.m. as part of Cougs in the Community, a new service-based learning program at Washington State University Tri-Cities.
Cougs in the Community was initiated by Chancellor H. Keith Moo-Young and Monika Moo-Young, which provides an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni, family members and community partners to demonstrate good citizenship and make a difference in the Tri-Cities.
“Cougs in the Community is a great partnership between the WSU Tri-Cities students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university with the community we love and cherish,” said Ken Fincher, assistant vice chancellor of advancement and community engagement. “This opportunity to partner with the Richland Rotary and Friends of Badger Mountain is exciting and I ask all of my fellow Cougs to come join in this worthwhile service project.
Tools are provided and participants are encouraged to wear weather appropriate clothing and be prepared to get dirty.
Volunteers are asked to be of at least 16 years of age to participate.
