Sept. 23: Finance expert discusses investment strategies

Darst-80PULLMAN, Wash. – David M. Darst, chartered financial analyst and author of the New York Times and Business Week best-seller “The Little Book That Still Saves Your Assets,” will discuss asset allocation and investment strategies during the free, public Gary P. Brinson Distinguished Lecture on finance 4:15-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the CUB Auditorium at Washington State University. A reception will be 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the Carson College of Business Dean’s Office, Todd 570.

Sponsored by the Carson College of Business, the annual lecture series brings in a leading expert in the finance and economics industry to network with students and present a stimulating, insightful public lecture.

Darst, independent investment consultant and former managing director and chief investment strategist of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, will present “Asset Allocation and Investment Strategy for 2015 and Beyond.” He will share insights from his experiences working with and advising many of the world’s largest investors for more than four decades.

He has served as chief investment strategist at Morgan Stanley for 17 years, was founding president of the Morgan Stanley Investment Group and was founding chairman of the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Asset Allocation Committee. He is the author of 10 other books devoted to asset allocation and investment opportunities, and his financial works have been translated into 10 languages.

Darst appears as a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg, FOX, PBS and other television networks. He has contributed numerous articles to Barron’s, Euromoney, Money Manager, Forbes.com, Yale Economic Review and other publications. He has broadcast and written extensively on asset allocation in the Firm’s biweekly Investment Strategy and Asset Allocation Commentary and in the Morgan Stanley Wealth monthly publication, Asset Allocation and Investment Strategy Digest, the predecessors of which he launched in 1997.

He joined Morgan Stanley in 1996 after 24 years with Goldman Sachs, where he held senior management posts within the equities division and served six years as resident manager of the Private Bank in Zurich.
