PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University College of Business has been named one of the best business schools in the nation for its online business graduate programs for veterans by U.S. News & World Report. According to the report, the college ranked third in the Best Online Graduate Business Programs for Veterans category.
“This recognition is evidence the College of Business is delivering programs of the highest levels of quality, convenience and relevance to meet the specific and evolving needs of our students,” said David Whidbee, interim dean for WSU’s College of Business. “Whether currently serving in the military or transitioning to a civilian career, these students are equipped by our online MBA and Executive MBA programs with superior business acumen that will benefit any business environment.”
To be ranked, an online degree program had to report participation in four key programs that offer educational benefits to people with military service. The rankings methodology (http://bit.ly/1h8iaGd) requires programs be from institutions that are certified for the GI Bill, schools participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program or public institutions that charge in-state tuition for all out-of-state veterans.
In addition to meeting these requirements, the WSU College of Business is also accredited for all degree levels by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world’s business programs.
“As I prepared to retire from the Air Force, I knew I would need an MBA to be successful as a civilian business executive,” said David Cohen, manager, Creative Costuming and Entertainment Operational Development at Walt Disney Parks & Resorts in Orlando. “When I discovered WSU’s online Executive MBA program accepted the Post-9/11 GI Bill, could be completed entirely online in less than 24 months, and had a five-week class schedule, I was sold on its convenience and relevance to my career goal.”
Active military members successfully participate in WSU’s online business programs and are assisted by the WSU Office of Veterans Affairs. The office provides a wide variety of veteran services, including a dedicated financial aid representative, to ensure the smooth application of VA education benefits.
All of the universities evaluated in the veteran’s rankings must have been awarded a numerical rank in the publication’s 2014 Best Online Graduate Business Programs released earlier this year. In the overall rankings, the College of Business was rated seventh for Best Online Graduate Business Programs.
U.S. News & World Report developed the Best Online Programs for Veterans and inaugural Best Colleges for Veterans, released in November, to help the thousands of returning veterans and active-duty service members pursue college or advanced degrees under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
