Tuition waivers offered to students impacted by Oso mudslide

PULLMAN, Wash. – In a letter to the mayor of Darrington, Wash., the president of Washington State University today offered to waive tuition for the coming academic year for college students affected by the Oso mudslide.

In a letter sent this morning to Darrington Mayor Dan Rankin, WSU President Elson S. Floyd indicated the university would waive tuition for the 2014-15 academic year for students whose permanent addresses are in either Oso or Darrington, Wash.

Later, after receiving feedback from community members impacted by the slide, he also extended the waiver offer to students who are residents of nearby Arlington, Wash.
