Showcase celebration previewed, honorees recapped

showcase-l-2-9-09PULLMAN, Wash. – The academic expertise and outreach of Washington State University will be displayed and celebrated Thursday and Friday, March 27 and 28, during the annual Showcase. Events will culminate with the Celebrating Excellence Recognition Banquet, where the WSU community honors the outstanding achievements of faculty and staff.

Events will include:

* Distinguished Faculty Address, free to the public, 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, Veterinary and Biomedical Research Building Science Forum. Raymond Reeves, School of Molecular Biosciences, will present, “A Surprising Path to Regenerative Medicine.” A reception will follow.

* Academic Showcase, free to the public, 9 a.m.-noon Friday, March 28, CUB senior ballroom. Posters/displays by faculty, staff, graduate students and professional students will highlight scholarship, research and creative activity.

* Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA), noon.-5 p.m. Friday, March 28. The public is invited to oral presentations 12:15-2 p.m. and 2:15-4 p.m., in the CUB junior ballroom, and poster presentations 3:45-5 p.m., in the CUB senior ballroom. Both are on the second floor of the CUB.

* Celebrating Excellence Recognition Banquet, 5:30 p.m., Friday, March 28, Beasley Coliseum. Outstanding achievements of WSU faculty and staff will be honored, including annual award winners, newly tenured and promoted faculty and new patent awardees. Reservations are closed.
