Yasinitsky inducted into state music educators hall of fame

GregYasinitsky-80PULLMAN, Wash. – Greg Yasinitsky, Regents professor and director of the Washington State University School of Music, recently was inducted into the Washington Music Educators Hall of Fame.

The honor recognizes exceptional support, inspiration and contribution to the growth and development of music education, both public and private, in the state.

GregYasinitsky-170Yasinitsky is also recipient of a 2014 ASCAP-Plus Award for composition from the American Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers and an arts excellence award from the WSU Student Entertainment Board. He received the WSU Eminent Faculty Award in 2011.

He is performing this weekend with the award-winning Crescent Super Band at the Peaks Jazz Festival in Utah. Later in March, he will be guest soloist and commissioned composer at the College of San Mateo, Calif., and will guest conduct the North Dakota All-State Jazz Band, which will perform a concert of his compositions and arrangements.
