March 7: Latino parents learn about admissions, sciences

latino-parents-60PULLMAN, Wash. – More than 40 Latino parents from south central Washington will visit Washington State University to learn about majors in math, science and engineering as well as residence life, financial planning and the admissions process.

latino-parents-450They will be on campus 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, March 7, for the fifth annual Latino parent conference hosted by the Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists (SOLES) (http://www.cea.wsu.edu/soles). The visit is sponsored by the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (http://www.cea.wsu.edu/lsamp) in the College of Engineering and Architecture.

The group will tour Pullman’s Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories in the afternoon followed by a panel of students sharing their stories as first-generation Latinos at WSU.
