RICHLAND, Wash. – The Board of Regents of Washington State University will hold a regularly scheduled meeting Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 on the campus of WSU Tri-Cities to consider action items related to housing and dining rates, capital construction, and the WSU 401(a) Supplemental Retirement Plan.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Jan. 23 in rooms 212-214 of the Consolidated Information Center with a meeting of the Regents’ Executive Committee, to be followed by consecutive meetings of the Regents’ Finance & Audit, Academic and Student Affairs, and External Affairs committees. Each committee session will convene immediately following the completion of the previous session. All four sessions are scheduled to conclude prior to 4:15 p.m.
The Regents will re-convene at the same location at 8 a.m. on Friday to initially hear reports, including reports from the WSU Faculty Senate, Graduate and Professional Student Association, Associated Students of WSU, Associated Students of WSU-Tri-Cities, WSU Administrative Professional Advisory Council, WSU Alumni Association and WSU Foundation.
The Regents are expected to take action on recommendations including:
- A recommendation by the Housing and Dining Advisory Board, comprised of student representatives from the Resident Hall Association (RHA), Associated Students ofWashington State University (ASWSU), Graduate and Professional Students Association (GPSA), as well as representatives from the Budget Office, Business and Finance, and Student Affairs and Enrollment, to increase single-student and family housing rates by three percent and resident hall room and board by an average rate of 3.2 percent for the 2014-2015 academic year.
- A recommendation to amend the WSU 401 (a) Supplemental Retirement Plan as required by law to meet certain provisions of the Heroes Earnings Assistance and Tax Relief Act of 2008, commonly referred to as the HEART Act.
- A resolution approving the schematic design documents for the Northside Residence Hall Phase 2 project. Located on Colorado Street just east of the Women’s Soccer Field on the Pullman campus, the project will house 270 beds in a combination of single and doubles with and without baths, two and four bed semi-suites as well as a number of apartment type suites on the fifth level for groups of 4-6 students. The building will include a variety of common spaces on each floor as well as a living room and recreation area on the ground floor. Construction of the project is expected to begin in the spring semester of 2014 and be complete for the fall 2015 semester.
The meeting will be teleconferenced in room 405 of the Lighty Student Services building on the Pullman campus.
