Jan. 18: Food gardener training expands expertise

EVERETT, Wash. – Gardeners tend to be lifelong students – always seeking ways to improve. Advanced training for food gardeners will be available 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, from the Washington State University Snohomish County Extension Growing Groceries program.

The event will be at the extension Cougar Auditorium in McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Bring your own lunch.

Topics to be covered include:

* Growing heirloom vegetables, with Carol Bello, master gardener;

* Pest prevention, with Sharon Collman, extension horticulturist;

* Best varieties for your garden, panel discussion with Growing Groceries mentors;

* How to conduct variety trials, with Sharon Collman, extension horticulturist.
