With significant snowfall predicted for much of the state in coming days, it would be a good time to review Washington State University’s inclement weather policies and procedures.

A complete guide to inclement weather processes at WSU can be found online. Among the available resources are links to the WSU Crisis Communication System and specific campus communication channels, which are used to communicate changes to campus operations in the event of severe weather.

Frequently asked question pages for employees on their options in the event they are unable to get to work due to the weather are also available online. A guide for safe driving in the event of winter weather is also available. The site includes road condition reports from the Washington State Department of Transportation as well as its counterparts in Idaho, Oregon and Montana.

Each of Washington State’s campuses has its own alert system for timely updates in the event of severe weather:

Anyone wishing to receive alerts from the WSU Crisis Communication System can register their phones or email through my.WSU.edu.

The National Weather Service is currently forecasting 1 to 3 inches of new snow accumulation during the day Friday and another 2 to 4 inches overnight. A winter storm warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday.

A mix of rain and snow is expected Saturday, with a few additional inches of snow possible. Sunday could see as much as another three to five inches of accumulation.
