PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University senior ROTC cadet Joseph Bocchi was selected to assist with drills and testing of the nation’s top 100 high school football players recently at the annual U.S. Army All American Bowl in San Antonio.
He was one of three chosen to represent the 8th ROTC Brigade, which encompasses Army military science programs from Montana to Guam and Alaska to California. He assisted with 40-yard dash and quarterback drills during an NFL-style national combine testing players’ athletic prowess.
Bocchi, who will graduate from WSU in May and commission as a U.S. Army infantry officer, described his selection as “an awesome experience to have been able to work with such high caliber athletes, as well as work with my peers from across the country.”
ROTC cadets train throughout the academic year to develop the physical and mental toughness required of a professional military officer. Unit physical training encompasses a variety of activities including strength training, cardiovascular fitness, competitive sports, forced marches, field exercises and team building activities.
