Feb. 15 deadline for pharmacy student research program

By Lori Maricle, College of Pharmacy

SPOKANE, Wash. – The deadline is Feb. 15 for undergraduate and professional students to apply for a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) in the College of Pharmacy, which just received renewed funding for the program for three years.

Fellows actively contribute to research efforts under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Each fellow receives a $2,800 stipend to participate in a 10-week summer rotation in a pharmaceutical or biomedical research lab.

The Washington State University college has received the funding from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) for more than 10 years. SURF contributes to the university’s institutional strategic plan to offer a transformative educational experience. Learn more at http://www.pharmacy.wsu.edu/research/summerfellowships.html.

Research at the WSU College of Pharmacy supports the university’s land-grant mission to address some of society’s most complex issues, specifically by developing practical solutions to challenging problems in health care delivery, health care access and disease prevention.
