Student research, judging deadlines Feb. 22, March 11, 21

SURCA-logoPULLMAN, Wash. – Abstracts from undergraduate researchers are due Feb. 22 for the fifth annual Washington State University Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) on the afternoon of March 28 in the CUB ballroom.

SURCA is part of WSU’s annual Showcase celebration of original scholarship, research and creative expression by members of the Washington State University community; see https://showcase.wsu.edu/.

showcase-logo“We expect as many as 200 undergraduates to participate, and we need expert judges from all disciplines to evaluate the posters and presentations,” said Shelley Pressley, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research.

“Last year, we featured presentations by 174 students from four campuses plus WSU Extension. Scores submitted by the judges allowed us to present 44 awards to 51 winners. We plan to top that at the 2016 event.” Judge applications are due by March 11.

Students submitting abstracts for SURCA are also eligible for separate awards from the WSU Emeritus Society. The deadline to apply is March 21. Winners in four categories will be announced at the WSU Undergraduate Education awards ceremony on April 18.
