Search-It-logo-200PULLMAN, Wash. – Want a book’s call number sent directly to your mobile phone? Use Washington State University Libraries’ new text-a-call-number service, available through the Search It online search tool.

“The service makes it easier for students and librarians to find resources more quickly and efficiently,” said instruction librarian Holly Luetkenhaus.

Once logged in to the Search It page (http://searchit.libraries.wsu.edu), look up your book and click on the book link. Select the “Availability and Request Options” or “Details” tab. In the upper right hand corner of the box, click on “Actions” and select “Send via text.”

In the pop-up box, enter the cellphone number and service provider and hit “Send Text.” Search It sends a text to the mobile phone with the call number and library where the book can be found.
