Oct. 1: Painting demo highlights month-long exhibit

Stinson-portraits

PULLMAN, Wash. – A local artist known for his quick painting technique and vibrant portraits will demonstrate oil painting from life at 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the CUB auditorium at Washington State University. Works by artist Henry Stinson are on exhibit through Oct. 28 in the CUB Gallery.

Stinson began his training at WSU, studied figure painting in the Russian impressionistic tradition and has taught drawing and painting for 23 years in numerous colleges and private schools.

“I paint because I have to,” he said. “I love the physical act of painting because of the challenge I have working to create the vision in my head – to manifest emotions and feelings through the use of color and iconic/symbolic images on the canvas.”

The exhibit and demonstration are hosted by the WSU Student Entertainment Board and the CUB Gallery.
