Habitat-logo-webPASCO, Wash. – A public groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the “Tri-Cities Coug House” will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, on Charles Street in Pasco.

Washington State University Tri-Cities is partnering with Tri-County Partners Habitat for Humanity to construct a Cougar-themed home that will provide a local family with a safe and affordable place to live. The house will be one of 24 themed houses constructed as part of Habitat’s Whitehouse Addition project in Pasco.

Groundbreaking participants will be able to view floor plans, enjoy light refreshments, make donations and sign up to volunteer on the project. Please RSVP at http://bit.ly/1hIE3m5.

“We strive to provide our students, faculty and staff with a direct connection to opportunities for service learning in our local community,” said WSU Tri-Cities Chancellor Keith Moo-Young. “This project not only provides a local family with a home they will cherish for years. It provides our students and community with chances to learn a variety of hands-on, valuable career skills ranging from construction and business management to accounting and design.”

“This project is the perfect example of the types of partnerships that make this community a great place to live and work,” said Rick Jansons, executive director for the Tri-County Partners Habitat for Humanity. “We’re proud to be partnering with WSU Tri-Cities on this project and we’re proud to build 24 new homes for families in the Pasco community as part of our Whitehouse Addition project.”
