RICHLAND, Wash. – A process to efficiently create car parts that are strong but lightweight to make vehicles more fuel efficient has won one of two awards from the Federal Laboratory Consortium Far West Region for partnering with industry and developing new technologies.
Program manager Yuri Hovanski recently completed his Ph.D. at Washington State University, where he worked on light-weighting of vehicles.
He works at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy lab in Richland, which won the award.
