PULLMAN, Wash. – Five finalist teams will present their solutions for dealing with plastic waste in the environment at the free, public Annual Global Case Competition at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, in Todd Hall 216 at Washington State University.
An award ceremony and catered reception will begin at 5 p.m.
The 30 students (six per team) in the final were selected from 120 and are a diverse group. They hail from four states, Washington, D.C., and four foreign countries. Twenty-one undergraduate and nine graduate students represent nine colleges, 24 majors and the WSU campuses in Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver and the Global Campus.
This year’s case centers on dealing with plastic waste in Manaus, Brazil. Solutions were required to: represent the multidisciplinary knowledge of the team, be implementable within five years, use the existing institutions in Brazil and reflect regional resources, including WSU. The winning team will have an opportunity to travel to Brazil.
