Feb. 12: Rights, challenges of indigenous people discussed
SPOKANE, Wash. – A former consultant to the United Nations on the rights of indigenous people will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in the Phase 1 Auditorium at Washington State University’s Riverpoint Campus, Spokane.
The free, public lecture is presented by the WSU Foley Institute in collaboration with Eastern Washington University.
“The rights of indigenous peoples in the contemporary world: The power of ideas and the challenges of implementation” will be discussed by James Anaya, the Lenoir Professor of Human Rights Law and Policy at the University of Arizona.
He was UN special rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples 2008-14.
