Tri-Cities chancellor to address national STEM leaders

Moo-Young-80RICHLAND, Wash. – Affordable access to higher education in STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, math) and preparing graduates to enter companies in these fields will be the topics presented this week by the Washington State University Tri-Cities chancellor to national STEM leaders.

STEM access and preparation are major emphases at WSU Tri-Cities, which is located in the Tri-Cities Research District – home to more than 15,000 STEM professionals working at the Hanford nuclear site and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (see http://tricitiesresearchdistrict.org/?cat=2).

Chancellor Keith Moo-Young will speak Friday at the senior executive session of the annual Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference in New Orleans hosted by Great Minds in STEM Inc.

The session this year will consider U.S. global competitiveness in STEM fields. Session members include leaders from IBM, General Motors, the U.S. Navy, Booz Allen Hamilton and more.
