Feb. 17-25: Three Summer Session finalists interview

PULLMAN, Wash. – Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend open sessions for three finalists for director of Summer Session selected by the search committee and provost. Details will be posted at http://provost.wsu.edu under Administrative Searches on the left.

Carol Wilson, director of Special Academic Programs at the University of Miami since 2000, will be on the Pullman campus Feb. 17-18. She was an extension agent/4-H program coordinator for Miami-Dade County/University of Florida 1994-2000. She received her M.S. from the University of Bridgeport in 1993 and her B.S. from the University of Connecticut in 1986.

Ben Perkins, acting director of Summer Session at Washington State University, will interview Feb. 19-20. He began in Summer Session in 2007 as a coordinator, became assistant director in 2012 and acting director in 2013. He was assistant to the associate vice president of Student Affairs, Equity and Diversity 2005-07, principal assistant for the Institute of Shock Physics 2003-05 and business manager for Insect Aside LCC 1996-2003. He received his B.A. in business administration from WSU in 1996.

Michael Highfill, director of Bridge Idaho at the University of Idaho, will visit Feb. 24-25. He was project director for UI Upward Bound 2005-12, interim project director for Northwest Nations Upward Bound 2005-06, coordinator for HOIST (Helping Orient Indian Students and Teachers to Math and Science) 2005-08 and curriculum development specialist of NASA ISGC 2002-04 – all at UI. He received his M.A. from the University of Idaho in 2003 and his B.A. from the University of Montana in 2000.

Phyllis Erdman, associate dean of the College of Education, has served as chair of the search committee. Other members are: Manuel Acevedo, director of Multicultural Student Services; Deborah Carlson, director of Capital Budget; Stacey Hust, associate professor in the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication and David Whidbee, associate dean in the College of Business.
