PULLMAN, Wash. – Human Resource Services (HRS) will offer several retirement presentations on Wednesday, Jan. 15, for participants of any of the state Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) plans.
Following are the courses that will be offered by HRS staff and representatives from ICMA-RC (Plan 3 defined contribution managers). The courses are identified by who will benefit by attending the presentations.
Each session will be held in Lighty 405 and will last approximately one hour. Sessions will be available to non-Pullman sites via AMS videoconferencing services. To enroll, please visit “Current Benefit Events” on the HRS website at http://hrs.wsu.edu/Benefits.
New and existing PERS 3 and TRS 3 participants: Getting to Know Plan 3, 8:30-9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-noon.
These sessions will review the basics and unique characteristics of Plan 3 and provide information about the investment options and the flexibility of retirement options.
TRS 3 participants also have the option of changing their contribution levels each January. This session will provide information that will be of assistance with this possible change (IRS rules do not allow PERS 3 participants to make this adjustment).
TRS 3 participants who would like to change their contribution rate in January may do so by completing the Plan 3 Contribution Rate Change Form located at http://drs.wa.gov/Forms/Member/trs3rateChange.pdf and submitting it to the HRS Pullman office no later than Jan. 31.
PERS 2 participants employed prior to March 2002: Getting to Know Plan 3, 8:30-9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-noon.
PERS 2 participants who elected a plan prior to March 2002 have the option to switch to PERS 3 every January. These presentations will be of value in helping you determine if this may be an appropriate option. Sessions will review the basics and unique characteristics of Plan 3 and provide information about the investment options and the flexibility of retirement options.
PERS/TRS 3 participants within five years of retirement: Plan 3 Pre-Retirement Seminar, 9:45-10:45 a.m.
This session will provide a summary of Plan 3 retirement and/or withdrawal options. The various payment/payout options will be reviewed.
PERS/TRS 1, PERS/LEOFF 2 participants within five years of retirement: Plan 1 and Plan 2 Pre-Retirement Session, 1-2 p.m.
This session will provide a summary of Plan 1 and 2 retirement options, as well as review other retirement benefits such as medical/dental options and VEBA/leave payout benefits.
