Missoula Children’s Theatre auditions at WSU’s Jones Theatre

PULLMAN, Wash. – An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Robinson Crusoe” 4-6 p.m. Monday,  Sept. 23.

Those auditioning should arrive at the Washington State University Jones Theatre inside Daggy Hall before 4 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the main cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

A variation on Daniel Defoe’s novel, MCT’s Robinson Crusoe teaches the lesson that reading invites more than observation. The story is set on Crusoe’s island, no a tourist destination, years after he and his companion, a goat named Wilson, are shipwrecked. Characters include a lovable singing leopard, a tribe of natives known for their colorful coifs, a herd of goats, an all-animal band, hula-dancing chameleons and of course, the legendary Robinson Crusoe, who all discover that their differences need not stand in the way of friendship.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. Tour actors and directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 4 to 8:30 p.m. each day.

MCT’s “Robinson Crusoe” will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, and 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, in the Jones Theatre. Tickets will be $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids 12 and under and available at the door. The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency is sponsored by Beasley Coliseum with support from WSU Performing Arts and Pullman’s Holiday Inn Express.
