Blood drive at CUE; help overcome shortage

PULLMAN – The American Red Cross and the WSU Honors Student Academy  is sponsoring a WSU blood drive 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, June 30, in CUE.

While all types of blood are in short supply this summer, type O negative blood has dropped to critical levels at the American Red Cross.

Type O negative blood is always in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergency situations.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate this summer, particularly those with O negative blood.

Type O negative blood donors who meet the eligibility requirements can double their impact by becoming a double red cell donor.

To make an appointment, go to redcrossblood.org and, if necessary type “gocougs” into the “sponsor code” field on the left side of the site, then just click on the listing for Washington State University. Times are available from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
