New street signs point to Cougar Gold, ice cream

PULLMAN – The route to deliciousness just got a lot clearer on the WSU campus.

The former “South Fairway Road” is now officially “Ferdinand’s Lane” and leads directly from Stadium Way to Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe and the WSU Creamery.

“Visitors to our campus sometimes had a hard time finding our store,” said Russ Salvadalena, creamery manager. “The golf course kept moving farther from Stadium Way so ‘South Fairway Road’ became less and less descriptive.”

To remedy the situation, the creamery petitioned the WSU Facilities Naming Committee to change the name; the committee approved the name change late last year. The last new street sign is now in place.
