Seattle oboist Shannon Spicciati to perform at WSU

PULLMAN – Seattle oboist Shannon Spicciati will perform a concert featuring new and traditional works from the solo oboe repertoire at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, in Bryan Hall Theatre on the WSU campus.

The concert will span the oboe repertoire, featuring standards by J.S. Bach and Paul Hindemith, as well as new works by Hillary Tann and Jeffrey Rathbun.

Spicciati will be assisted at the piano by Elena Panchenko, and joined by WSU faculty oboist Keri McCarthy for Rathbun’s Three Diversions for Two Oboes. The concert will conclude with a trio of delightful works by Oliver Messiaen, Jacques Ibert, and Maurice Ravel.

Spicciati has played extensively with the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Opera on oboe and English horn, as well as the Seattle Opera and Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theatre orchestra, Northwest Sinfonietta, Tacoma Symphony and numerous other ensembles. She is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington School of Music and Pacific Lutheran University.
