Math and Science Day provides fun learning for students

VANCOUVER  – Southwest Washington Math, Engineering and Science Achievement will host Math and Science Day from 9:30a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Oct.20 in the Clark Center at Washington State University Vancouver.

Hands-on science exhibits, demonstrations and lab activities will promote math and science literacy for students from several area middle schools with teachers and mentors who participate in the MESA program.

“Math and Science Day helps students connect math, engineering and science to their every day lives,” said Armetta Burney, co-director of southwest Washington MESA.

MESA is a nationally recognized organization bringing resources into K-12 schools to help close academic achievement gaps and build a pathway to careers in engineering and science. In the Vancouver area, Pacific, Cascade, Jemtegaard, Canyon Creek, Jason Lee and McLoughlin middle schools participate in southwest Washington MESA.
