Health, art, war engaged via Cougar Conversations

You can learn a lot before Washington State University’s home football games Oct. 8 and Oct. 15 by taking part in Cougar Conversations. The conversations are free one-hour lectures on a variety of topics presented by WSU faculty members. Registration is not required. Sessions include:

Oct. 8
• Art for Everyone: Roy Lichtenstein and Pop Art, Chris Bruce, WSU Museum of Art director. Four hours before kickoff, CUB 212.
• Adorning the World: Art of the Marquesas Islands, Carol Ivory, Fine Arts chair and professor. Four hours before kickoff, CUB 232.
• News, Nations and War, Susan Ross, Murrow School of Communication faculty. Two hours and 45 minutes prior to kickoff, CUB 214-216.
• Who Said That about WSU? John Webb, Digital Services/Collections WSU Libraries assistant director. Two hours and 45 minutes prior to kickoff, CUB 220.

Oct. 15
• Veterinary Medicine and Human Health, Diana Stone, Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology faculty. Four hours before kickoff, CUB 212.
• Biotechnology and Stem Cells, Derek McLean, Animal Sciences faculty. Four hours before kickoff, CUB 232.
• Critical Thinking in Medicine and Beyond, Rod Bagley, Veterinary Clinical Sciences professor. Two hours and 45 minutes before kickoff, CUB 220.
• The Future of Plant Biotechnology, Kulvinder Gill
, professor and Vogel Chair of Wheat Breeding and Genetics. Two hours and 45 minutes before kickoff, CUB 214-216.

Also on home football weekends in Pullman is Feast of the Arts, a culinary experience that showcases exceptional food, Northwest wines, art, music and theater. Held the night before home games, the events were a sellout last year.
