WSU Jazz Festival celebrates its 25th year

The 25th annual WSU Jazz Festival is set for Wednesday, Nov. 1, and includes free afternoon concerts on the Pullman campus.

The noontime gala concert is in Bryan Hall and will feature fabulous saxophonist Greg Yasinitsky performing with alumni and the WSU Jazz Big Band. Dr. Yasinitsky is an amazing composer, arranger, and saxophonist who created and ran WSU’s award-winning jazz program for over thirty years. Dr. Yasinitsky is currently the director of the WSU School of Music.

In addition, the WSU faculty ensemble Jazz Northwest featuring saxophonist Greg Yasinitsky, trumpeter Dave Turnbull, trombonist Sarah Miller, pianist Brian Ward, guitarist Brad Ard, bassist Dave Snider, and drummer Dave Jarvis will be featured in an afternoon concert at the end of the festival. Each participating group will receive written comments from distinguished adjudicators and an individual off-stage clinic.

Admission is free to the gala concert at Bryan Hall, and to the performances at Kimbrough Concert Hall throughout the day.

The festival is presented by the WSU School of Music and the Jazz Society at WSU.
