The program is the first in Eastern Washington. It promises not only to help improve children’s healthcare in Spokane but also foster aspiring physicians from the region.

The event will begin at 3:10 p.m. and will include a Q&A session with items submitted by the WSU community.

WSU’s annual celebration of academic and research excellence takes place this week with symposiums, lectures, the State of the University Address, and other events.

Washington State University employees can weigh in anonymously on their workplace experiences beginning this week with the latest iteration of the Employee Engagement Survey.

Sheryl McGrath, who has been the SBDC associate state director since 2019, begins her new position on April 3. Duane Fladland, who has been state director since 2014, will retire April 30.

When the results from this year’s survey are released in the fall, units will be able to compare student responses to the same questions spanning three survey cycles dating back to 2019.

A system-wide committee has updated the suite of one-to-four-credit university student-success courses and processes for the first time in a decade, resulting in several changes effective starting in fall 2023.

The program is designed for health care executives to sharpen their leadership skills and business competencies and for rising health care professionals to advance their careers.

President Kirk Schulz will deliver the keynote address followed by a Q&A moderated by WSU Spokane Chancellor and Executive Vice President of Health Sciences Daryll DeWald. Questions can be submitted in advance.

Schultz helped put the Fender’s blue butterfly on the road to recovery and is currently working to restore monarch butterfly populations. She will deliver the Distinguished Faculty Address at 3:30 p.m., March 29.
