School of Food Science Emeritus Faculty member Lloyd O. Luedecke passed away on June 4, 2014. He was 79 years old.

His memorial service will be TODAY,  Tuesday, June 10t,at 11 a.m. at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman (325 NE Maple St., Pullman, WA 99163)  After the service, a luncheon/snacks will be served at The Hilltop hotel afterward.

WSU has issued the 2013 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report for the Pullman campus.

The US Environmental Protection Agency requires that public water systems issue an annual drinking water quality report to the users of the system. This annual report explains where the water comes from, what it contains, and the sampling and treatment that WSU performs to prevent health risks. Registration for the WSU men’s basketball Day Camp which runs from Monday, June 16 through Thursday, June 19 is available online until Friday, June 13 at noon.  The Day Camp, which features instruction from first-year head coach Ernie Kent, his staff and basketball student-athletes,   is open to boys and girls entering second through eighth grade, costing $150 per camper. The camp will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a lunch break from noon-1 p.m. Campers will need to bring their own lunch or money to purchase pizza, snacks and/or drinks at the camp. No housing will be provided for the Day Camp. The campers will learn basic offensive and defensive fundamentals, while participating in five-on-five games daily. Summer BBQ on the Mall features lunch and free entertainment in the sun on June 11. The fresh air event takes place between 11:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on the Glenn Terrell Mall across from the CUB. These events will occur each Wednesday through July 23. This week’s menu offers Casino Style BBQ Ribs with potato salad, a Vegetarian Garden Burger and a 1/3 pound Angus Burger. *In the case of rain, the entertainment will be moved to the CUB Lair and the barbeque will be canceled.

Dining Services Espresso is available throughout the summer. The Lighty Espresso Bar is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. . The Bustad and Cleveland Espresso Bars are open Monday through Friday 7:30 a. m. to 2 p. m. . Cyber Café and the Carpenter Epresso Bar are closed for the summer

Put on your cleats and favorite jersey for Sports around the World Week at Cougar Kids Camp from June 16-20! WSU Sport Club athletes from rugby, lacrosse, cricket and hockey will coach campers as they play new and traditional sports from around the world. Campers will also cheer on their favorite teams in the World Cup. The camp is available for morning, afternoon and all-day sessions. Extended morning and afternoon hours are available for free. Feeling hindered by tightness or a lack of muscular recovery? Join University Recreation on June 17 for the Recovery, Mobility and Hydration workshop. Personal trainers will cover improving muscle mobility, recovery and fluid intake while teaching you how to property stretch and loosen your muscles. The Motor Pool reminds Departments to schedule emissions tests and annual inspections for WSU department-owned vehicles.  Emissions tests are required for all 1988 to 2008 WSU vehicles.  Annual inspections need to be done on all university-owned vehicles.

Monday, June 9, thru Friday, Aug 16, pedestrian access through the plaza between Bohler Athletic Complex (Bohler) and the Physical Education Building (PEB) will be revised to accommodate construction under the covered area of the PEB. This project will construct support for a distributed antenna system which will address the large wireless demand on event days. (more…)

Lloyd Luedecke, 79, Professor Emeritus in the WSU School of  Food Science died Wednesday, June 4. A memorial service will be on Tuesday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Simpson United Methodist in Pullman.

Lloyd worked at WSU from 1962 until 2000 when he retired, and then worked another 12 years at the WSU Creamery. He taught and advised students in the School of Food Science for 39 years and began a legacy that continues today through the students who work in the dairy and food industry and the on-going impact of research and extension programs.
