Are you designated as an ‘Approving Official’ within the Purchasing Card Program? If so, you have certain responsibilities of which you must be aware. This course describes three participant roles and their respective responsibilities, the policy and process for purchasing, reconciliation and documentation, prohibited purchases and the consequences of misuse. This course will take place in Pullman and will be available statewide on Thursday, July 17, from 1:30-2:30 p.m.. It is important to register in advance, to enroll now click here!

The head of U.S. food and agriculture will address societal changes he refers to as “wicked problems,” – including population growth, climate change and poverty – at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, in room T101, Food Science and Human Nutrition building, at Washington State University Pullman.

A 9 a.m. reception will be held before the free, public talk in the ground floor lobby of the building. The talk will be videostreamed live at http://experience.wsu.edu/.

Sonny Ramaswamy, director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), will deliver WSU’s Sam Smith Lecture, “Setting the Table for a Hotter, Flatter, More Crowded Earth.”

The Organic Farm will be selling fresh vegetables Wednesday from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. across from the CUB.  Come on by to stock up for the week or just get a snack.  The summer crops are coming on with the heat so get ready for cucumbers, summer squash, and basil!  The farm is also at the Pullman Farmer’s Market Wednesday afternoon from 3:30-6 p.m.

Originating in Pullman, this course is available through Academic Media Services. The Personnel Position Payroll Electronic Routing Management System (PERMS) is a personnel action management, routing and approval system that establishes salary payments for faculty, staff and graduate students. PERMS enables the user to authorize, track and communicate the status of the personnel actions. In this training session, taking place on July 16 from 9:30-11 a.m., participants will learn how to use PERMS and its various functions.

Note: Approval to use DEPPS is required prior to receiving access to PERMS.

This session takes place on Thursday July 10th from 9-11:00 a.m. Recommended for those whose positions entail cash handling at Washington State University, this course describes the policies and procedures related to the handling of cash, the receipt and deposit of money, and dealing with foreign currency. Additionally, handling a returned check, identifying the proper procedures for safeguarding and securing monies, reimbursing a petty cash fund, and processing a refund are explained.

Designed for WSU administrative staff, the Graduate Assistantship Processing workshop focuses on PERMS, waivers, new student programs in the Graduate School, trainee internships, English proficiency exams, direct deposit, payroll deductions, meeting deadlines in a timely manner. Departmental best practices are also discussed.  This session takes place on July 15 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. and is available via AMS Videoconferencing for non-Pullman locations. Come enjoy a scenic bike ride through the Palouse during the National Lentil Festival on August 23! Participants have the option of doing a 50K or 100K ride. The course begins and ends at the Pullman City Playfields and is considered a ride, not a race. If you register by July 27 registration is $35. You are also guaranteed a dry-fit T-shirt with early registration! After July 27, registration is $45. The registration fee includes water and snacks at aid stations during the course and a post-race BBQ. The Women’s Resource Center is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Academic Year 2014/15

The Graduate Assistant will report to and work with the Director to support the Center by managing multiple projects to help meet the Center’s goals.
