The Cougar Men’s and Women’s Golf teams will be hosting a Kids Golf Clinic on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 3:30 p.m. The Event is free for all kids of any age and all participants receive free prizes for attending!  The clinic will be held at Palouse Ridge Golf Club at the driving range.  For more information please visit the website here

In this training program you will learn about conducting a vehicle inspection, safe driving skills and driving environments. Additional driving concerns and collision reporting procedures are also discussed. This program is highly recommended for drivers of WSU cargo or passenger vans. Bozena Pasczynska, Biological Science Technician, died September 15, 2014. She worked at the USDA Western Wheat Quality Lab from 2004 up until her death. Prior to her work at the Wheat Lab, she spent 15 years as a lab technician Food Science and Human Nutrition Department at Washington  State University in Pullman. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 28, at the Moscow 1912 Building Arts Room (www.1912center.org)  with an open microphone from 1-3 p.m.

Meet new friends and explore Moscow with UREC’s Group Bike Ride to Moscow! The ride starts at the Outdoor Recreation Center and travels down the eight mile Bill Chipman Trail. In Moscow, you can explore downtown shops, cafes and restaurants before heading back to Pullman. You can bring your own bike or rent one from our rental shop. We will be having group rides on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5 from 4-7 p.m. The trip is free, so sign up today!

The first V-Day meeting will be held next week, Wednesday, October 1 from 4:45 p.m. until about 5:15 p.m. in Washington G40! Anyone is welcome to come, especially those of you who would like to become an officer! The meeting will cover some of the basics of V-Day and I will be looking to get some input on what to do with our 2015 production. All ideas are welcome and will set up a basis for how we will run our production. Can’t wait to see you all there!

The Health Professions Student Center (HPSC) invites the campus community to attend an open forum session with each of the three final candidates for the position of HPSC director.  HPSC provides guidance and support for undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in human or animal healthcare, including medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, nursing and pharmacy. Faculty and academic advisors in these disciplines are especially encouraged to attend. Dr. Héctor Hernández, a visiting scholar from the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, will be giving a colloquium this Thursday afternoon at 4:10 p.m. in 125 College Hall. Dr. Hernandez will discuss his research on household archaeology in the Hacienda San Pedro Cholul in Yucatán, México. He will present findings from two field seasons about the hacienda’s workers, called peones, and their household activities, use of space, and daily life.

This workshop focuses particularly on tenure and promotion.  Any WSU faculty member who has an interest in these issues should attend, particularly those who are just beginning their careers at WSU or who will come up for an important evaluation soon. This class takes place Wednesday, Oct. 1 from 1:30-3 p.m.

What is motivation? How can you motivate yourself? Is it possible to motivate others? This workshop, taking place from 1:30-3 p.m., provides an overview of various theories of motivation, including Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, goal setting, and self-regulation. Recommended for all WSU supervisors. Originating in Pullman, this course is available statewide through Academic Media Services.
