The fall semester test of the WSUAlert system by the Office of Emergency Management which was originally set for Wednesday, October 8, at 12:05 p.m. has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 29, at 12:05 p.m. Faculty, staff and students associated with the Pullman campus who have signed up for notification will receive text messages, phone calls, and emails which will be clearly identified as a test. This test will also include the @WSUAlert twitter account and the campus outdoor warning sirens. (more…)

Motor Pool has a new roll off tow truck, capable of carrying up to 2 state vehicles at one time. Charges to outside departments is a base fee of $50/hour, staff hourly rate of pay,  plus a mileage fee of $.25/mile after the first 100 miles. Please call Motor Pool if you have any questions or need help having your state vehicle towed. During office hours please call 335-9085, for emergencies or after hours calls please call dispatch at 335-9000.

Washington State Basketball is tipping off the Ernie Kent era in style with a party in Bohler Gym, come out and hear great music from DJ Royal and DJ Goldfinger, pick up free T-shirts and win tons of great prizes, including a chance at $10,000 cash!  And of course, get your first peak at the Cougar Men’s Basketball team.  The action gets started on Saturday, October 11 at 9 p.m. in Bohler Gym. Admission is free for all fans.  It’s a basketball dance party, and you’re invited!

The breast cancer support group for WSU faculty and staff meets monthly from  noon-1 p.m. in Lighty 280x.  The next meeting is Thursday, October 9. All faculty and staff who have been recently diagnosed, are undergoing treatment, or are breast cancer survivors are welcome. Feel free to bring your lunch. This training provides an overview regarding how the electronic forms system functions and specific instruction on completion of the electronic forms that participants expect to use. Current forms in the system include the Request for Shipment of Merchandise, the Sponsored Projects Activity Request (SPAR), and the Travel Expense Voucher.  Upcoming sessions:

Originating in Pullman, this course is available via AMS. This course, taking place from 9-11:30 a.m., is one of many WSU Fiscal Management Training Resources. It provides a high level overview of the purpose and inter-relationship of such WSU mainframe accounting systems as DEPPS, BALANCES, FACTS, SCBAIMS, PROPERTY, PAPR, BRS, BPS. Do you like caviar, sashimi, sushi or other seafood? We are looking for volunteers to evaluate sensory properties of caviar (you don’t have to have experience with caviar but be interested in tasting it). You need to be at least 18 years of age to participate.

With this week’s good weather the farm will again have a market stand on the Mall between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday.  There are lots of great pumpkins left and we’ll have a good selection to choose from.  The farm will be open Friday noon – 6pm for more U-Pick pumpkins before the weather turns.

Join WSU Lightweight Women’s Crew Team the Sunday of Dad’s Weekend for a spook-tacular 5K! The road race will take place Sunday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. and anyone older than 6 years can participate. Runners and walkers are both encouraged to partake in the 5K which takes place on the WSU campus. The cost of registration is $15 for SRC members and $20 for nonmembers. WSU Transportation Services would like to inform you that over the next couple of days we will be installing new IPS Smart Meters on the WSU Pullman campus.  The new M5 meter will be replacing all preexisting meters found on campus.

We will now have the capability to accept credit cards and coins for all meter transactions. (more…)
