Join us for this year’s version of smashing pumpkins at the Pumpkin Drop at Webster Physical Sciences Mall. Saturday’s events start at 9 a.m. with “Marvels of Sciences” demos and experiments from Physics and Astronomy, Geology and Environmental Sciences, the Optical Society of America/SPIE “Year of Light” events, and fun kid’s activities. Rocks, fossils, science toys, books, and t-shirts will be on sale, along with information hand-outs and Kind Bars (nutrition from pumpkins). (more…)

Halloween may be over, but there’s still time for you to say “boo!” to the flu! This Friday is our last Flu Shot Friday at Health & Wellness Services. We’ll be giving flu shots to students, employees and community members from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the ground floor of the Washington building. Flu shots are covered by most insurance plans, so make sure to bring your insurance card! Details are available at http://hws.wsu.edu.

Dad’s Weekend means it is time for the Annual Pumpkin Drop!!! WSU Physics & Astronomy invite you to join us on Saturday, November 7, in the Mall between Webster and the ISP buildings for pumpkin and science magic!

Events begin at 9 a.m. with experiments, demonstrations and fun activities for kids.  Followed by the main event, pumpkins dropping from 12 stories, beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Don’t miss gravity at it’s best!

I am 4th year Ph.D. student in information systems at Washington State University. My research is about the role of technology in the self-management of chronic diseases. Specifically my focus is on using mobile apps for the self-management of diabetes. My study is IRB exempt. I am at the stage of data collection. No one wants their friends to get hurt or harm someone else. Alcohol is a common thread between the majority of violent acts, student deaths, and academic deficiencies. Alcohol is not inherently bad, but knowing when to act and help your friends can be critical. Sign up for Health & Wellness Services’ Red Watch Band workshop on November 17 from 5:10-8 p.m. to learn about when it’s time to get help, legal facts, and how to care for someone safely until advanced medical help arrives.
