No supervisor is a super hero, unfortunately.  Even the best supervisor requires help to get things done and, without a well-performing staff, will ultimately fail.  One of the best ways to accomplish departmental goals is through effective delegation.  Not only does it yield production results, it also grooms employees for advancement and higher level tasks.

The Office of International Programs is holding its annual spring Global Learning Fair, Today! It will take place in the CUE Atrium from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Open to all students, and free to attend, the fair will provide information for students to globalize their education through Education Abroad, the Global Leadership Certificate, the Global Case Competition and other exciting ways to go global! (more…)

What is leadership? What is your leadership style? This course looks at a variety of leadership styles and theories, with an emphasis upon the application of Blanchard’s Situational Leadership model. Recommended for all WSU supervisors. This course takes place March 15 at 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

How does your communication style impact others? How can effectively provide feedback that is appropriate, excepted, and acted upon? This course reviews the development stages of teams and emphasizes the importance of clear communication in the workplace. It includes an interactive survey to help participants determine their personal communication styles. Special attention is devoted to identifying different communication styles and the skills required to give effective feedback.

Today, come and participate in the I Billion Rising event being held at WSU to recognize International Women’s Day. The event will be held today from 4 – 5:30 p.m. in Butch’s Den, Compton Union Building.

I Billion Rising – the dance movement against violence and discrimination against women – is a powerful and universal appeal for change. This event will begin with global footage of I Billion Rising as it is celebrated world-wide, introduced by the WSU V-Day organization. (more…)

WSU’s scheduling application Resource25 is undergoing maintenance and will be down from 7 a.m. March 14 until 6 p.m. March 15. This means our academic and event schedulers throughout Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver will not have access to the application and therefore will not be able to respond to any questions or concerns about room reservations. We expect the R25 Webviewer (http://www.schedule.wsu.edu) will still be available during this maintenance time.

“The Tragedy of Silence: Guilt and Democracy” is a March 22 WSU presentation detailing European thoughts on recently emerged court documents of Austrian Nazi perpetrators. This free, public lecture by Claudia Leeb, assistant professor of political theory and a 2015-16 Humanities Fellow, begins at 5:30 p.m. in Honors Hall Lounge, followed by refreshments.

A colloquium featuring Dr. Stephanie Majewski, Department of Physics, University of Oregon, will be held today, at 4:30 p.m. in Webster B-17. Dr. Majewski will present her talk, “Surpassing The Standard Model: Searching for Supersymmetry”, from research using proton-proton collision data from the Large Hadron Collider.
