The Washington State Governor’s Healthy Washington Roadmap to Recovery plan went into effect on 1/11/21. The regional approach focuses on COVID-19’s potential impact on the healthcare system and makes no changes to Washington’s Higher Education guidelines. As such, the new plan currently approved does not impact WSU research activities, including Exception Requests. WSU faculty, staff, and students should continue to follow the Office of Research guidance regarding on-campus research under their pertinent “staged return to on-site research, scholarship, and creative activities” plans. PIs and research leaders should continue to follow their approved “staged return to on-site research, scholarship, and creative activities” plans until notified by the Office of Research of any needed changes to these plans resulting from directives or changes to our regional status. Additionally, WSU continues to abide by the guidance.
Research activities during the pandemic have been successful, in part, because of adherence to safe behavior – thank you! The mitigation strategies implemented by various units within the University, including distancing, wearing masks, sanitation, good hygiene, daily attestation, and viral testing, continue to limit coronavirus spread on our campuses.
Principal Investigators with specific questions regarding research activities that may be impacted by the state recovery plan can contact the Office of Research by phone (509-335-1289), email, or by contacting Mike Kluzik within the Office or Research Assurances.
