WSU Dad’s Weekend hard cider tasting

Spend quality time with dad while sampling the first-ever WSU Blended Learning Sparkling Dry Hard Cider along with a series of hard ciders from industry partner and WSU alumni-owned Tieton Cider Works.

The WSU Dad’s Weekend Hard Cider Tasting will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at the Brelsford WSU Visitor Center, 150 E. Spring St. This tasting will be the first of its kind, showcasing not only the WSU Viticulture and Enology Program but how it works with alumni and industry professionals to create the WSU Blended Learning wine series. Tieton Cider Works, a Washington-based hard cider maker, donated the apple juice used to create the program’s first hard cider.

WSU Viticulture and Enology Program and Tieton Cider Works representatives will be available to discuss their hard ciders and partnership during the event.

The tasting will feature the WSU Blended Learning Sparkling Dry Hard Cider and four ciders from Tieton Cider Works. Those ciders include Pure Pear Cider, Harrison Cider (a single varietal apple cider), Apricot Cider and Wild Washington Apple Cider. The featured 16.9 ounce bottles of Tieton ciders will be available to purchase for a limited time at the visitor center.

Tickets cost $10, include a 1-ounce tasting of each cider and a commemorative Brelsford WSU Visitor Center wine glass while supplies last. Each tasting ticket will also act as 20 percent off the purchase of a single bottle of wine (including the WSU Blended Learning Sparkling Dry Hard Cider) or 20 percent off a six-pack of the Tieton ciders. Tasting ticket coupons are not valid with other sale offers.

Tickets are available for purchase beginning at 4 p.m. at the door and are limited to one per person. Participants must be 21 or older with proper identification at the time of ticket purchase. The event is open to all ages. Light refreshments, including coffee, water and cookies, will be provided while supplies last.

The visitor center will also be open with extended hours Friday, Nov. 15-Sunday, Nov. 17 to assist fans with any pre-game needs. Additionally, there will be a weekend-long wine sale featuring 20 percent off the entire purchase of select alumni wines.
