The Transformational Change Initiative is a multiple-component plan to produce transformational change at Washington State University by creating a university that supports students emotionally, socially, and academically, and by producing graduates prepared for life-long success. Under the leadership of Dr. Laura Hill, Dr. Samantha Swindell, and Dr. Denise Yost, the major components of the initiative include a parent handbook intervention, curriculum and faculty development, a peer-to-peer experiential learning assistance, and a comprehensive research strategy. Most importantly, the focus of the initiative includes improving student resiliency and empowerment using interventions known to support students’ emotional, social, and academic development.
